A Fall Walk on Cape Cod
One of my favorite seasons on Cape Cod is the fall. The tourists are gone, the beaches are empty and it is still reasonably warm enough to take a long walk on them. Several weeks ago I took my friend Joanne who was in town for a visit, to Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. It is just miles and miles of pristine beach. The sky was ominous and threatening with a very blustery wind. We took a short walk but the wind was blowing the sand so hard it was pelting our face. We drove several miles up the road and as we did the sky cleared and the wind seemed to calm. We came to one of my favorite walking spots near a salt marsh on Route 6A in Sandwich and decided to take a nice walk there instead. Almost as scenic as Sandy Neck as you wind through the woods along the salt marsh and past cranberry bogs. A reminder of why I love Cape Cod so much!
One thing I especially miss about New England is the nice fall weather and the absolutely beautiful blue skies. Lovely photos.
