Chateau LaTouanne, Baccon France
Chateau LaTouanne is one of the places Hubby and I stayed while in France last fall. We stayed there for three days. Located in the Loire Valley it was remarkable. I don’t think I grasped via the photos I saw when I booked it how huge the place was. The back yard was walled in and probably included 5 acres of land. Beyond the wall the Chateau at one time had 425 acres of surrounding farmland most of which is now leased out. In an effort to keep this stately home in the family the owners have turned it into a B&B. What a bed and breakfast it was!
I was so sure that at night we would run into the ghost of some former ancestor walking the halls. Fortunately everything was as calm and quiet as a mouse. It really was mind blowing to think that people lived their everyday lives in such opulence! It certainly was a huge difference from my humble abode on Cape Cod. Oh and I haven’t even discussed the breakfast. Holy cow, it was just amazing. I have never seen so much food. The owner was willing to cook our eggs to order! What service!
Chateau LaTouanne is within short driving distance of some of the more famous Chateaus in the Valley. If you ever want a place to stay in the Loire Valley I highly recommend staying there.
What a magnificent place. I’m sure you could have simply spent your 3 days just lazing around or exploring this buildings/grounds. Must have been hard to leave.

Looks like a luxurious and spacious place, more spacious than I have ever seen in a B&B. I really like the photo of the long hallway with the successive arched doorways, Elizabeth. Thanks for the tour! 🙂
