Contrasts in shadow and color
I was setting up for an elaborate still life photograph and was assembling my props. Once I put the fruit on the black and white plates my heart stopped. I was done. I absolutely loved the contrast in shadow. I also was drawn to the contrast between the vibrant green against the black and white plate and backgrounds. When my husband saw the photos he said “Well there’s a lot of shadow!“. That was my absolute intent. I love how the shadow adds such depth to the images. The first two photos are my favorites. What do you think of the shadow and contrasts? Which is your favorite?
beautiful arrangement. My favourite is the first one.

Intersting experiment. Somehow the apples always look slightly different. Amazing what you can do by changing something through the way that you photograph it.

A slight change in where I was standing when taking the photo or a switch of background does make a difference!

With still life, best to keep it simple as you have done. Let the contrast and texture show through.
I prefer #1.
