My Love for an Off-Season Beach
I have lived on Cape Cod for over 24 years now and you may find this funny but I never go to the beach in the summer. Well let’s just say I avoid the beach at all costs in the summer. I am not the type of person who finds a beach filled with people relaxing. When I go to the beach it’s always in the off season when it’s cooler, on a rainy day or during a storm. It is at that time of year that you can truly appreciate the beauty of nature at it’s finest. You can see the subtleties in the color of the water and sky. Or perhaps the movement of grasses in the wind. Find a unique treasure of perhaps sea glass, a crab shell or just a special rock. I know I often write about the beach and ocean in the off season but maybe there will be a time when you will take a trip to the shore and find out why for yourself!

The first photo reminds me so much of Rockport, MA. Elizabeth…I don’t blame you. We do not like the crowds either…there is nothing relaxing about it. The negative side of living in a tourist town. I will never do it again…if we move.

Love the beach fence shot! I have to agree with you Elizabeth about the off season. It is so much more enjoyable, especially as a photographer, but more so that one gets the feeling of having the beach , coastline to oneself. A time to contemplate and let the wind and sea air clear the cobwebs.
Hope you have a great day!

When I lived in MA, I never went to the beaches in the summer either.
But after Labor Day?
I spent every moment there that I could.
