Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover
The wooden shack is the restaurant!
Don’t judge a book by its cover! Fortunately before my husband and I came down to Puerto Rico he did a lot of reading on Trip Advisor of other people’s experience in the area. One thing they said was “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Especially when it comes to the local eating establishments. That is a total understatement. Hubby and I have had some of the best meals ever while here in some places that look like you should run in the opposite direction! The one I’m featuring here accepts only cash. However we didn’t know that when we first got there. We ordered our drinks and my husband saw the sign stating “Cash Only”. He asked the waitress where the nearest ATM was. She told us it was down the street. My hubby told her he would be back in a few minutes, as he needed to get cash. She said “Never mind you can get the cash after and come back to pay us! I trust you!” WHAT??? Did we hear her right! Yup that’s what she said. So we ate a phenomenal meal, left, went to the ATM and went right back to pay our bill and leave a big fat tip!
This restaurant has five tables. Yes only five tables but you have to put your name in because there is such a long waiting list. We left our name and went down the street to the beach bar for an hour to wait our turn. But it was well worth the wait! If you ever travel to Puerto Rico and are in the Luquillo area make sure you eat at “Pasta y Pueblo”.
Waiting area!

I still remember eating in these places in Mexico. The food was always great and the people friendly. They might have to run out to buy something for the meal I ordered but they managed. Sounds like you had a most enjoyable time and it’s wonderful to learn first hand about experiences in Puerto Rico.

My favortie restuarant serves chineese food, it is a converted gas station with very limited seating. They have no menues, the patrons are so hard core they have it memorized and they order by number. If you are a newbie and are unsure you speak up as to what you want and someone who is sitting in the restuarant will give you the number. The food is absolutely amazing. It is a bit scary when you first enter. They make not pretense that your experience is about anything other than the food.

So true! I love places like this. There’s. a little Italian restaurant near us that is just a little hole in the wall. Plastic chairs, plastic tablecloths…but the food is the best! Always a line out the door!
