Tantalizing Tuesday – 5/29/12 Blue Blinds Bakery, Plymouth MA

I think I am becoming the connoisseur of Bakeries. I love a nice neighborhood Bakery. For me there is no better treat than a place to go on a weekend morning have fresh baked sweets, pastries or bread and sit down with a cup of coffee to enjoy it! It just seems so European. It’s something that our culture seems to have gotten away from in our haste to rush through our days! For many years local bakeries were disappearing only to be replaced by generic Dunkin Donuts, Mister Donuts, Starbucks etc… While all those places serve their purpose when you need a quick cup of coffee to go aside from perhaps Starbucks they lack atmosphere.
Well I have found the most incredible bakery in Plymouth, MA. On North Street, which is a side street that runs from the center of Town down towards the water is “Blue Blinds Bakery”. It is an artisanal bakery where each day they bake fresh pastries and bread every morning. My goodness there were the most incredible looking breads, pies, cookies, cakes and pastries I was so overwhelmed I didn’t know what to pick. So I bought the largest and most scrumptious sticky bun I have ever had and a still warm loaf of “Honey Oat Bread”. Which the owner offered to cut for me.

The inside of the Bakery I can only describe as a work of art. There are two rooms full of tables, chairs and leather sofas. On the walls are the most incredible painted murals depicting scenes from the time of the Pilgrims and the Mayflower! Absolutely amazing to look at!
The Bakery has been in Plymouth for four years and they have a very loyal following. I happen to be there at 8:15 am in the morning and there were already 3 tables full of people sitting outside enjoying there coffee and pastries. Some sat there plugging away on their laptops sipping their coffee. I can’t say as I blame them because had I had more time the setting was an ideal spot to just sit and while a way time!
