In the Picture – Self Portrait Project – Theme #5 Big World, Tiny You

On Friday’s I am participating in a project with my Blogger friend “Urban Muser” and other participants in which each month we post different self portraits. The project is called “In The Picture”. We set our own personal goal for the number of pictures within a year we are going to take. I am aiming for “52” or “1” per week. She will post a new area of the body, subject or theme to focus on the first Friday of each month and then we Link up our pictures with everyone else on the last Friday of the each month. This will be a challenge and fun as I find taking a picture of myself has always been uncomfortable! Anyone else who might feel inclined to join the project (it’s free) can go to the following link for details: Urban Muser Blog – “In The Picture”
MAY 2012 – THEME #5 – Big World, Tiny You
Self-portraits don’t always have to be close-up. You can still be the subject of your photo without dominating the entire frame. May theme is to try and find a beautiful background, landscape or open space and insert yourself somewhere in the scene.

Unfortunately my problem is I usually don’t think about my self-portrait shot for my Friday post until Thursday when I am working at home. At that point I don’t have the luxury of hunting around to find a great location for a grand shoot. I’m generally cramped for time, at home on my lunch hour and have to throw something together quickly! For the May project we are supposed to try and get out of the house and include more of the great outdoors and our surrounding area. Fortunately for me yesterday the rain stopped in the afternoon just in time to take this picture. My mother had this flaming pink chair she set up in her garden to sit and relax. So I thought…. perfect spot! What I didn’t count on was Brady my yellow lab decided it was also the perfect time to play fetch! No matter what I did he kept coming over with his ball. He would drop it at my feet, I would throw it and he would run off only to return moments later for us to do the entire thing all over again! So this is my shot! I couldn’t help but laugh because after about 40 pictures all with him in it at my chair and feet I finally gave up!
