Voila home made Brownies

This is an old family recipe! (Can’t you tell it uses Crisco instead of butter!)


3/4 – 1 C Cocoa
1 1/2 C Shortening (Crisco)
2 1/4C Flour
1 1/2 tsps Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsps Salt
6 Eggs (room temperature)
3 C Sugar
3 tsps Vanilla


Melt shortening and cocoa together in double boiler or in pan over boiling water. In separate bowl sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat eggs until foamy. Add warm chocolate mixture to eggs a spoonful at a time to temper eggs (you don’t want to end up with scrambled eggs)! Add sugar and vanilla. Add flour mixture and blend until just mixed together. Do not over mix! Grease and flour 13×9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

These brownies are very cakey!!! If you like gooey brownies these are not for you!
